CHAPTER 12 

I. THE ESTABLISHMENT OF THE CHURCH: VS 1-6 

A. These are the characteristics of the church. v 1  1. The church is the bride of Christ. Rev. 22:17, Eph. 5:22-23  2. The church is Spiritual Israel, the mother of all faithful Christian. Gal. 4:22- 26, Gal. 3:27-29  B. These are the causes for the church. v 2  1. Jesus (the Incarnated Word) was to be born of a woman. Gen. 3:15, Gen. 12:1-3, Isa. 7:14, Isa. 6: 7-9  2. Jesus was born of a virgin woman: Mary. Matt. 1:18-25, Romans 1:1-4, Gal. 4:4-7  C. These were the oppositions to the church. vs 3-4  1. The devil was opposed to the coming of the Messianic Kingdom. vs 3-4, 1 Cor. 10:1-11  2. The devil tried to kill Jesus when he was born. vs 3-4, Matt. 2:1-23  D. Jesus has ascended to the throne of God in heaven. Acts 1:9-11, Acts 7:54-56, Col. 3:1-4 II. THE REIGN OF THE CHURCH: VS 6-12  A. These are the protections for the church. v 6  1. The church in the wilderness would signify the wilderness of sin, religious error, and religious persecutions. Romans 8:18  2. The church is prepared for those tribulations. 2 Peter 1:3-4  3. The church is fed the word of God through the gospel dispensation. 1 Peter, 2:1-3, 2 Tim. 3:16-17  B. These are the powers of the church. vs 7-11  1. The redeeming powers of God has defeated the powers of Satan. vs 7-9 a). The devil can not accuse the Lord of not having been tempted in the flesh. Luke 4:1-13, Heb. 2:14-16  b). The devil can not accuse the Lord of not having a Spiritual Kingdom. Matt 16:13-18, John 18:36, Acts 2:47, Heb. 12:28-29  2. The redeeming powers of God through Christ brings salvation to man. v 10, 2 Cor. 5:17-21  a). The gospel is God's redeeming power. Romans 1:16  b). The gospel can be obeyed. Acts 2:38, Romans 6:16-18  c). The gospel offers salvation unto all men. Acts 10:34-35  3. The redeeming powers of God assures us of salvation. v 11  a). Christians can win the victory through Christ. 1 Cor. 15:57  b). Disciples can win the victory by Christ. Phil. 4:13  C. These are the conflicts of the church. v 12  1. The host of heaven rejoices when the sinner repents. Luke 15:7,10, Acts 2:47  2. The devil tries to keep the sinner from repenting. 2 Cor. 4:3-4, 2 Cor. 11:14-15, 2 Cor. 2:11 III. THE PERSECUTION OF THE CHURCH: VS 13-17  A. These are the reasons for those persons who are persecutions. v 13  1. The devil is trying to destroy the established church. Matt. 16:13-18, Acts 2:47, 2 Cor. 11:14-15  2. The devil is trying to corrupt the established church. Eph. 5:22-32, Gal. 1:6-9  B. These are the protections for those persons who are persecutions. v 14  1. The church is under the Rule of Christ. Acts 2:34-38, Eph. 1:20-23  2. The church is feed the word of God. Eph. 3:10-11, 2 Tim. 3:16-17  C. These are the hardships of those persons who are persecutions. v 15  1. The devil tries to engulf the church with a deluge of lies. Gen. 3:1-6, John 8:44  2. The devil tries to permeate the church with a flood of delusions. 2 Cor. 4:3-4, Gal. 1:6-9  D. These are the effects of those persons who are persecutions. vs 15-16  1. The devil can be defeated by the truth of God. v 16, Titus 1:9-11, Acts 20:32  2. The devil will continue to fight against the truth. v 17, 1 Pet. 5:8, Jam. 4:7 CHAPTER 13 

I. THE CHURCH IS PERSECUTED BY CIVIL GOVERNMENTS: VS 1- 10 

A. These are the reasons why Christians are persecuted. vs 1-2  1. The devil uses evil governments to persecute Christians because the first beast symbolizes evil governments. Acts 4:25-26  2. The devil uses evil governments to kill the saints. Acts 7:54-60, Acts 12:1- 4  B. These are the influences of those persons who are being persecuted. vs 3-4  1. Many people are controlled by those persons who are persecuted. v 3, Matt. 10:28  2. Many people will deny their faith because of those persons who are persecuted. v 4, Acts 4:19-20  C. These are the characteristics of those persons who are persecuted. v 5 (Those persecutions will continue throughout the gospel dispensation.)  D. These are the purposes of those persons who are persecuted. vs 6-7  1. The devil uses evil governments to blaspheme God because this has been truth since the creation of civil governments. v 6, Gen. 11:1-9, Dan. 5:1-4  2. The Devil uses evil governments to overcome weak Christians. v 7, Dan. 3:1-7  E. These are the admonitions for those persons who are persecuted. vs 8-11  1. Christians must overcome those persecution because Jesus was slain by the promises of God after Adam and Eve fell from God's grace. v 8, Rev. 3:5, Gen. 3:15, Heb. 9:15  2. Saints need to hear the word of God under those persecutions. v 9, Acts 20:32  3. Disciples should remain faithful under those persecutions. v 10, Rev. 2:10 II. THE CHURCH IS PERSECUTED BY FALSE TEACHINGS: VS 11-18  A. These are the reasons for those persecutions. v 11  1. The devil uses false teachings to deceive humanity because the second beast symbolizes false religions. v 11, Gen. 3:1-7, l John 4:1, 2 Cor. 4:3- 4, Matt. 7:15  2. The devil uses religious truth mixed with religious error to deceive humanity. Matt. 13:24-30  B. These are the influences of those persecutions. vs 12-14  1. The devil influences many people with those subtle powers. v 12, 2 Cor. 11:14-15  2. The devil deceives many people with those crafty powers. vs 13-14, 2 Thess. 2:3-12  C. These are the effects of those persecutions. vs 15-17  1. The true Christian can be killed because he must tell those false teachers the truth concerning the gospel of Christ. v 15, Gal. 4:16  2. The true disciple can be boycotted from society because he need to upholds the truth of God to those false teachers. vs 16-17, 2 Tim. 4:1-4  D. These are the admonitions for those persecutions. v 18  1. Christians must know false teachings because many religions wear the name of man instead of wearing the name of Christ. Acts 4:12, Col. 3:17, Gal. 1:10-12  2. Disciples must learn false teachings because false religion typifies multiplied imperfection. Gal. 1:6-9, Romans 10:1-3 CHAPTER 14 

I. THE REDEEMED FROM THE EARTH: VS 1-5 

A. These are the reasons for their redemption. v 1  1. The saints have been redeemed by the blood of the Lamb. John 1:29  2. The Christians have been translated from the world of sin into the Kingdom of God's dear Son. Col. 1:13-14, Heb 12:28-20  3. The disciples have been sealed with the Father's name. Eph. 1:13-14  B. This is the praise for their redemption. vs 2-3 (They sang the song of redemption.) Eph. 5:19  C. These are the effects of their redemption. vs 4-5  1. Christians are virgins in character. v 4, Eph. 5:30-32  2. Saints are holy in conversation. v 5, James 3:7-10 II. PREPARING FOR THE JUDGMENT: VS 6-13  A. These are the reasons for preparing for that judgment. vs 6-11  1. Christians have been given the everlasting gospel to preach. vs 6-7, Matt. 28:18-20  a). Any person can obey the gospel of Christ. Romans 6:16-18  b). Christians must worship God in spirit and in truth. John 4:24  2. The powers of sin will be overthrown because Babylon signifies worldliness. 1 John 2:15-17  3. The wicked persons will be punished. vs 9-11  a). The wicked persons will be punished by the Lord. vs 9-10, 2 Thess. 1:7-9  b). The wicked persons will be punished forever and ever because the wicked will be the alien sinner, those persons who are deceived, and those unfaithful church member. v 11, Matt. 25:46  B. These are the essentials for preparing for that judgment. v 12  1. Christians must keep the commandments of God. James 2:10  2. Saints need to manifest patience. James 1:12  C. These are the blessings for preparing for that judgment. v 13  1. Christians can die in the Lord. Romans 14:7-9  2. Saints will rest from their labors. 1 Cor. 15:58 III. THE JUDGEMENT OF THE WORLD: VS 14-20  A. This will be the Judge of that judgment. v 14  1. The Son of man will come to judge the world. Matt. 25:31  2. The authority of Christ will be used to judge the world. 2 Cor. 5:10  B. These are the reasons for that judgment. v 15  1. The time will come for the world to be judged. Amos 4:12, Heb. 9:27  2. The harvest of the world will be ripe for that judgment. Acts 17:30-31  C. These will be the rewards of that judgment. vs 16-20  1. The redeemed persons will be saved because there will come the time to save those righteous persons who are in the world. vs 16-17, Matt. 25:31- 40  2. The wicked persons will be lost. vs 18-20, Matt. 25:41-46  a). There will come a time for the punishments of those wicked people who are living without God. v 18, Acts 17:30-31  b). The number of the wicked people will be greater than the number of the righteous people. vs 19-20, Matt. 7:13-14 CHAPTER 15 I. THE VICTORY OF THE SAINTS: VS 1-8  A. This is the need for that victory. v 1 (The wrath of God will be poured out upon the wicked people of the world.) 2 Thess. 1:7-9  B. These are the essentials for their victory. v 2  1. The saints must overcome evil governments. Acts 4:18-21  2. The disciples need to overcome religious error. 2 John 9-11  3. The Christians should overcome the powers of sin. Romans 6:12-13  C. These are the praises for that victory. vs 3-4  1. The saints sang praises unto God for their victory. v 3, James 6:13  2. The disciples praised the Lord for their victory. v 4, 1 Cor. 15:57  D. This will be the effect of that victory. vs 5-8 (That victory will cause God to satisfy His righteous indignation upon the wicked people of the world.) Romans 12:19 CHAPTER 16 

I. THE SEVEN BOWLS OF WRATH: VS 1-21 

A. These are the purposes of this wrath. v 1  1. This wrath satisfied the righteous indignation of God. Romans 12:19  2. This wrath punished sinful man for his sins. Romans 6:23  B. These are the characteristics of that wrath. vs 2-21  1. The first vial affects the body of sinful man. v 2, Deut. 28:35  2. The second vial modifies the sea because the living creatures which are in them can die. v 3  3. The third vial concerns the fountain of water because sinful man does not have pure water to drink. vs 4-7  4. The fourth vial influences the sun because sinful man is scorch by the heat. vs 8-9, Deut. 28:22  5. The fifth vial touches the kingdom of Satan because the throne of the beast is the center of evil governments. vs 10-11, Acts 4:25-26  6. The sixth vial affects the great river Euphrates because sinful man does not have ample water supply. vs 12-14  7. The seventh vial will subdue the earth. vs 15-21  a). The Lord will come as a thief in the night. v 15, 2 Peter 3:10  b). The wicked persons are fighting the losing battle against the forces of righteousness. v 16 1). The battle of Armageddon takes place each day in the life of an individual because there is the conflict between the forces of righteousness and the forces of evil. Gal. 5:17, Matt. 6:24, Romans 6:16-18 2). The battle of Armageddon will also take place on the day of judgment because that will be the last battle between the forces of righteousness and the forces of evil. Matt. 25: 31-33, 1 Thess. 5:1-3  c). The world will come to an end. vs 17-20, 1 John 2:15-17  d). The wicked persons will be punished. v 21, 2 Cor. 5:10 CHAPTER 17 

I. BABYLON, THE SYMBOL OF WORLDLINESS: VS 1-6 

A. This is the revealed fate of Babylon. v 1 (Babylon will be judged.) Eccles. 12:13-14  B. These are the influences of Babylon. v 2  1. Babylon controls the kings of the earth. 1 Cor. 1:26  2. Babylon arouses the inhabitants of the earth. James 4:4  C. These are the traits of Babylon. vs 3-5  1. Babylon symbolizes blasphemy against God. v 3, Matt. 12:31-32  2. Babylon signifies the glory of the world. v 4, Luke 4:4-7  3. Babylon typifies the whole scope of sin. v 5, 1 John 2:15-17  a). Babylon symbolizes evil governments. Acts 4:25-28  b). Babylon signifies false religions. Gal. 1:6-9  c). Babylon implies unfaithful church members. 1 Tim. 1:18-20  D. These are the effects of Babylon. v 6  1. Babylon will persecute the Christians. Matt. 5:10-12  2. Babylon will kill the saints. Acts 7:54-60 II. THE REVELATION OF BABYLON: VS 7-18  A. These are the attributes of Babylon. vs 7-18  1. World Empires are controlled by worldliness. v 7, Prov. 14:34  2. The inhabitants of the world are governed by worldliness because their names were not written in the Book of Life. v 8, 2 Thess. 2:7  a). The faithful people who lived before the establishment of the church had their names written in the Book of Life in view of our Lord's death on the cross. Luke 9:30-31, Heb. 9:15  b). The faithful people who have lived after the establishment of the church have had their names written in the Book of Life in view of our Lord's death on the cross. Acts 2:47, 1 Cor. 15:1-4  B. These are the disclosures of Babylon. vs 9-13  1. Babylon symbolizes the rise and fall of World Empires. vs 9-11  2. Babylon typifies the economical powers of World Empires. vs 12-13  C. These are the purposes of Babylon. vs 14-18  1. Babylon makes war with the Lamb. v 14, Gal. 5:17  2. Babylon influences many people. v 15, Matt. 7:13-14  3. Babylon fulfills the will of God. vs 16-17  a). Evil governments will persecute evil men.  b). Evil governments will persecute false religions.  4. Babylon controls the great kings of the earth. v 18, 1 Cor. 1:26 CHAPTER 18 

I. THE FALL OF BABYLON (WORLDLINESS): VS 1-24 

A. These are the reasons for the fall of Babylon. vs 1-3  1. All manner of worldliness will come to and end. vs 1-2, 1 John 2:15-17  2. All evil nations must fall. v 3, Prov. 14:34  B. These are the assurances for the fall of Babylon. vs 4-8  1. God will punish the people of Babylon. v 4, 2 Cor. 6:17-18, James 4:4  2. God will remember the iniquities of Babylon. v 5, Gal. 6:6-9  3. God will give Babylon a just reward. v 6, Heb. 2:1-5  4. God will bring Babylon to naught. vs 7-8, Matt. 23:12  C. These are the lamentations for the fall of Babylon. vs 9-19  1. The kings of the earth lament her fall. vs 9-10 (This signifies the rise and fall of earthly kings.) Acts 12:20-23  2. The merchants of the earth lament her fall. vs 11-16  a). This denotes economical chaos. vs 11-13, Matt. 6:33  b). This implies shameful lusts. vs 14-16, Romans 6:19-22  3. The mariners of the sea lament her fall. vs 17-19 (This represent the luxuries and pleasures of life.) Heb. 11:24-26  D. These are the effects of the fall of Babylon. vs 20-24  1. The fall of Babylon causes the saints to rejoice. v 20  2. The fall of Babylon provokes the wicked persons to lament. vs 21-24  a). Babylon symbolizes the wicked cultures of this world.  b). Babylon illustrates the wicked cultures of the coming world. 1). The wicked people will be completely overthrown for ever and for ever. v 21, Psa. 9:17 2). The ungodly people will weep for ever and for ever. v 22, Luke 13:28-30 3). The unrighteous people will be in complete darkness for ever and for ever. v 23, Matt. 8:12 4). The evil doers will be completely punished for ever and for ever. v 24, 2 Thess. 1:7-9 

CHAPTER 19 

I. THE MARRIAGE OF THE LAMB: VS 1-21 

A. These are the reasons for that marriage. vs 1-4  1. The Lord has proved salvation for humanity. v 1, Romans 1:16  2. The Lord will condemn the wickedness of humanity. vs 2-4, 2 Cor. 5:10  B. These are the effects of that marriage. vs 5-10  1. The Lord will be praised for the marriage. vs 5-6  2. The saints will be joined to that Spiritual Family whose surname is God. vs 7-8, Eph. 3:15, Eph. 5:22-32  3. The saints will enjoy the eternal bliss of immortality. vs 9-10, Romans 2:7  C. These are the causes for that marriage. vs 11-16  1. Jesus conquered the powers of sins for us. vs 11-12, 1 John 3:8  2. Jesus died for our sins. v 13, John 1:29, 1 Cor. 15:1-4  3. Jesus gave His followers a robe of righteousness: a wedding garment. v 14, Matt. 22:1-14  4. Jesus has the power to authorize that marriage. vs 15-16, Rev. 1:18  E. These are the results of that marriage. vs 17-21  1. The wicked persons will be the victims of God's wrath. vs 17-18  2. The powers of Satan's helpers will be completely defeated. vs 19-20  a). The helpers of Satan will fight against the Lord. v 19  b). The helpers of Satan will be punished. v 20  3. The wicked persons will be overthrown. v 21 CHAPTER 20 

I. THE OVERTHROWN OF SATAN: VS 1-15 

A. These are the reasons for Satan being overthrown. vs 1-3  1. The devil is securely bounded by the power of the gospel. vs 1-2, Romans 1:16, 1 John 3:8, John 8:31-32  2. The devil is completely limited by the gospel age. v 3, Romans 8:31  a). The thousand years symbolize the complete reign of Christ over the powers of Satan during the gospel age. Romans 8:37, 1 Cor. 15:57  b). The little season indicates the work of Satan during the gospel age. Rev. 12:12-17  B. These are the effects of Satan being overthrown. vs 4-6  1. The devil caused some Christians to suffer a martyr's death. v 4, Acts 12:1-4  a). The Christian is reigning with Christ while he is living upon the earth. Phil. 1:20-24, Romans 8:17  b). The saint will continue to reign with Christ when he leaves this earth. Romans 14:7-9, Rev. 2:26-27  2. The devil keeps some people from obeying the gospel. vs 5-6, 2 Cor. 4:3- 4  a). The sinner is dead in sin while he lives upon the earth. Eph. 2:1-3  b). The sinner can become alive while he is living in sin upon the earth by obeying the gospel. Romans 6:1-7, Col. 3:1-4, Acts 22:16  c). The sinner can be baptized into Christ for the remission of his sins. Acts 2:38, Matt. 28:18-20, Gal. 3:27-29, 1 Cor. 15:57 1). Baptism is the first resurrection from the dead. Col. 2:12 2). The general resurrection will be the resurrection of all the dead on the day of judgment.  John 5:28-29  C. These are the consequences of Satan being overthrown. vs 7-10  1. The devil will fight the losing battle against the powers of righteousness. vs 7-9, Acts 5:39  a). The battle of Armageddon is fought each day between the forces of righteousness and the forces of evil. Romans 7:21-24, Gal. 5:17  b). The climax of this battle will take place on the day of judgment. 2 Thess. 1:7-9  2. The devil will be punished for his rebellions. v 10, Rev. 1:18  D. These are the purposes of Satan being overthrown. vs 11-15  1. The overthrow of Satan will bring complete judgment upon all humanity. vs 11-12, 2 Cor. 5:10  2. The overthrown of Satan will bring total judgment for all humanity. v 13, Matt. 25:31-32  a). Those disembodies spirits who are in Hades will be there. Luke 16:22-26  b). Those persons who are translated from the earth will be there. 1 Cor. 15:50-57  3. The overthrow of Satan will bring everlasting judgment upon all humanity. vs 14-15  a). The second death will not hurt the redeemed persons because they have been born anew. John 3:1-7, 1 Cor. 15:49  b). The second death is to punish sinful man who will possess a spiritual body and an eternal soul and spirit. Matt. 10:28 CHAPTER 21 

I. THE NEW HEAVEN: VS 1-4 

A. These are the reasons for that New Heaven. v 1  1. The New Heaven is prepared for the redeemed people of God. John 14:1-3  2. The New Heaven will be for the redeemed people of God. 2 Peter 3:10- 13  B. These are the traits of that New Heaven. v 2  1. The New Heaven is an holy city.  2. The New Heaven is a glorious city.  C. These will be the purposes of that New Heaven. v 3  1. The New Heaven will consist of the people of God. 1 Cor. 15:28  2. The New Heaven will be for that Spiritual Family whose surname is called God. Eph. 3:15, Rev. 3:12  D. These are the blessings of that New Heaven. v 4  1. There will be no tears in Heaven.  2. There will be death in Heaven.  3. There will be no sorrows in Heaven.  4. There will be pain in Heaven. II. THE NEW LIFE: VS 5-8  A. These are the assurance of that New Life. v 6  1. The New Life is a truthful promise. Titus 1:2  2. The New Life is a faithful promise. 1 John 2:25  B. These are the blessings of that New Life. v 6  1. The New Life will be a satisfying life. Matt. 5:6  2. The New Life will be a fulfilled life. John 10:10  C. These are the essentials of that New Life. vs 7-8  1. Christians must overcome the powers of sin. v 7, Romans 8:37  2. Disciples must escape the second death. v 8, Romans 2:7 III. THE NEW JERUSALEM: VS 9-27  A. These are the purposes for that New Jerusalem. v 9  1. The New Jerusalem will be the Bride of the Lamb. Eph. 5:32  2. Christians are spiritually married to Christ. Eph. 5:30  B. These are the traits of that New Jerusalem. vs 10-11  1. The New Jerusalem will be an holy city. v 10, Eph. 5:26-27  2. The New Jerusalem will be a glorious city. v 11  C. This will be the sphere of that New Jerusalem. vs 12-14  1. The New Jerusalem will consist of those redeemed persons from the Old Testament. v 12  2. The New Jerusalem will consist of those redeemed persons from the New Testament. vs 13-14  D. This will be the structure of that New Jerusalem. vs 15-21  1. The New Jerusalem will have perfect dimensions. vs 14-17  2. The New Jerusalem will be a permanent building. v 18  3. The New Jerusalem will have a permanent foundations. vs 19-20  4. The New Jerusalem will have permanent gates. v 21 (The twelve gates would signify those three Divine Person who created and redeemed man, plus the multiplied number of those redeemed Persons from the four parts of the earth.) 1 John 5:7, Matt. 28:19, Luke 13:28-30  E. This will be the nature of that New Jerusalem. vs 22-27  1. The New Jerusalem will consist of eternal love because the temple service implies an act of worship which would be an act of love. v 22  a). The Creator and the Redeemer will love the Redeemed People for ever and for ever.  b). The Redeemed people will love the Creator and the Redeemer for ever and for ever.  2. The New Jerusalem will have an eternal light. vs 23-24  a). The Creator and the Redeemer will give glory unto it. v 23  b). Those People who have been Redeemed will be able to bring glory unto it. v 24  3. The New Jerusalem will have an eternal entrance into it. v 25  4. The New Jerusalem will have eternal glory. vs 26-27 CHAPTER 22 

I. THE PARADISE OF GOD: VS 1-5 

A. These are the causes of that Paradise. v 1  1. This Paradise comes from the throne of God.  2. This Paradise is engendered by the power of God because the throne of God symbolizes power.  B. These are the traits of that Paradise. v 2  1. This Paradise has the river of life in it.  2. This Paradise has the tree of life in it.  C. These are the blessings of that Paradise. vs 3-5  1. Those Redeemed Persons will never be cursed. v 3  2. Those Redeemed Persons will be added to that Spiritual Family whose surname is God. v 4, Eph. 3:15, Rev. 3:12  3. Those Redeemed Persons will reign for ever and for ever over the forces of evil. v 5, Rev. 3:20-21 II. THE AUTHENTICITY OF THIS REVELATION: VS 6-21  A. The angel of the Lord verifies this prophecy. vs 6-7  1. This prophecy is a true prophecy. v 6  2. This prophecy is a revealed prophecy. v 7  B. The apostle John affirms this prophecy. vs 8-15  1. This prophecy is an understood prophecy. vs 8-10  2. This prophecy is a blessed prophecy. vs 11-15  C. Jesus confirms this prophecy. v 16  1. Jesus fulfilled the prophecies of the Old Testament . Luke 24:44-48  2. Jesus fulfills the prophecies of the New Testament. Acts 10:34-43  D. The Holy Spirit verifies this prophecy. vs 17-21  1. This prophecy is an authoritative prophecy. vs 17-29  2. This prophecy is a testified prophecy. v 20  3. This prophecy is a gracious prophecy. v 21
