“EARNEST CHRISTIANS"
Heb. 2:1
Introduction:
1. Christian should be earnest and sincere in everything he does
2. An earnest Christian is one who is active, zealous, "fervent in
spirit, serving the Lord
II. SOME THINGS EARNEST CHRISTIANS WILL DO
1. Will give earnest heed to word of God. Heb. 2:1
a). Many neglect to study word of God
b). Many do not take time to study
e). Many remain babes in Christ. Hb. 5:11-14; 1 Pet. 2:2
2. Will earnestly contend for the faith. Jude 3
a). Not a faith, but the faith. Eph. 4:5
b). How contend? Earnestly! Jude 3
3. Will pray earnestly. James 5:16-18
a). Should pray, not merely "say our prayers."
b). Some pray earnestly only when in trouble
e). Example of Jesus. Luke 22:39-44
4. Will have an earnest care for other Christians. 2 Cor. 8:16
a). All members of the same body. Rom. 12:4, 5
b). Members have care for other members of the body. I Cor. 12:27.
Show earnest concern members of physical body have for injured or weak
parts
5. Will have an earnest desire for glory. 2 Cor. 5:1, 2
a). Paul's desire to depart. Phil. 1:23, 24
b). His longing for the crown. 2 Tim. 4:7, 8
