THE CHRISTIAN MIND

INTRODUCTION: Our mind is the most important part of our body. Every other organ can be replaced, even the heart. But when our mind doesn't function we will die. The mind is important in the spiritual realm as well. The Christian mind is spoken of in several different ways in the New Testament.

BODY

I. THE CHRISTIAN MIND IS A RENEWED MIND.

A. We have been transformed.
1. Romans 12:1 - "I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God."

2. Ephesians 4:22-24 "that you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts, 23 and be renewed in the spirit of your mind, 24 and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness."

B. This renewed mind come by a rebirth.
1. John 3:3-4 "Jesus answered and said to him, "Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. Nicodemus said to Him, "How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother's womb and be born?"

2. Like a dirty sponge being dipped.

II. THE CHRISTIAN MIND IS TO BE A PURE MIND.
A. The Bible urges us to live a pure (righteous) way of life.
1. Matthew 5:8 - Blessed are the pure in heart, For they shall see God.

2. Philippians 4:8 - Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy; meditate on these things.

B. Love springs forth from a pure heart.
1. 1 Timothy 1:5 - Now the purpose of the commandment is love from a pure heart, from a good conscience, and from sincere faith,
C. The truth of God's word makes us pure.
1. 1 Peter 1:22 - Since you have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit in sincere love of the brethren, love one another fervently with a pure heart,
D. Great comparison between pure and reprobate minds.
1. Titus 1:15 - To the pure all things are pure, but to those who are defiled and unbelieving nothing is pure; but even their mind and conscience are defiled.
III. THE CHRISTIAN MIND SHOULD BE A HUMBLE MIND.
A. This is spoken of as "the mind of Christ."
1. Philippians 2:3-8
B. Humility-not thinking of self more than we ought.
1. Romans 12:3 - For I say, through the grace given to me, to everyone who is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think soberly, as God has dealt to each one a measure of faith.
C. We should humble ourselves to God and one another.
1. James 4:10 - Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up.

2. 1 Peter 5:5-6 "Likewise you younger people, submit yourselves to your elders. Yes, all of you be submissive to one another, and be clothed with humility, for "God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble. Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time,"

IV. THE CHRISTIAN MIND IS A READY MIND.
A. A ready mind-one eager to accept truth.
1. Acts 17:11 - These were more fair-minded than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness, and searched the Scriptures daily to find out whether these things were so.
B. Eager to do God's will.
1. 2 Corinthians 8:12 - For if there is first a willing mind, it is accepted according to what one has, and not according to what he does not have.

2. 2 Corinthians 8:19 - and not only that, but who was also chosen by the churches to travel with us with this gift, which is administered by us to the glory of the Lord Himself and to show your ready mind,

V. THE CHRISTIAN MIND IS A CONVINCED MIND.
A. A mind that is fully committed.
1. Matthew 22:37 - Jesus said to him, " 'You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.'
B. Fully convinced of God's faithfulness.
1. Romans 8:38-39 "For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord."

2. 2 Timothy 1:12 - For this reason I also suffer these things; nevertheless I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that He is able to keep what I have committed to Him until that Day.

C. Double-mindedness is condemned.
1. James 1:8 - he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.

2. James 4:8 - Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.

CONCLUSION ARE WE READY TO "CHANGE OUR MINDS." WE NEED TO TRADE IN OUR OLD
MINDS FOR ONE PLEASING TO GOD.
