THE SERMON ON THE MOUNT (Part 8)
Matthew 5 Verses 23-26
The word therefore ties this text to the two previous verses:
In verses 25-26 we are told that we should agree quickly if we are wrong, lest at that time one could cause another to take action. We are told not to cause a brother to stumble Romans 14:21. As another thought we if a brother seeks to take something from us maybe our attitude of defense should be set aside and we should give more Matthew 5:40
In the Old Testament the giving of sacrifices was a way of worship. Thus, the idea we should derive is that we cannot worship God if we have done something to cause our brethren to have something against us.
When in worship we must be worthy while partaking of the Lord’s Supper
1 Corinthians 11:27-29
We should not make unhappy nor do any thing to offend others
1 Corinthians 10:31-33
Can’t love God and hate brethrenII. God commands us to have good relations with our brethren
1 John 4:18-21
Love and this will show that we are his disciples
Christ defines friendship – by the laying down of his life
Loving each other is commanded
Do not be people wanting revenge
That is what we are taught – to love
1 Thessalonians 4:9 with a pure heart I Peter 1:22
How to handle a problem amongst to Christians
There must not be "schism" (division) in the body
1 Corinthians 12:23-25 and I
Conclusion:We must have the proper mindset when entering into the worship to God. We must not have problems with each other.
