STUDIES IN MATTHEW
CHAPTER 25
MATTHEW CHAPTER 25
Verses 1-13 The parable of the ten
virgins
JESUS TEACHES PREPERATION
KJV 1 Corinthians 16:13
13. Watch ye, stand fast
in the faith, quit you like men, be strong.
WHEN JESUS COMES IT WILL BE QUICKLY
AND BY SURPRISE
KJV 1 Thessalonians 5:1-6
1. But of the times and
the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you.
2. For yourselves know
perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.
3. For when they shall
say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail
upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.
4. But ye, brethren, are
not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.
5. Ye are all the children
of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of
darkness.
6. Therefore let us not sleep, as do
others; but let us watch and be sober.
WE ARE THE BRIDE OF CHRIST
KJV Romans 7:1-4
1. Know ye not, brethren,
(for I speak to them that know the law,) how that the law hath dominion
over a man as long as he liveth?
2. For the woman which
hath an husband is bound by the law to her husband so long as he liveth;
but
if the husband be dead, she is loosed from the law of her husband.
3. So then if, while her
husband liveth, she be married to another man, she shall be called an adulteress:
but if her husband be dead, she is free from that law; so that she is no
adulteress, though she be married to another man.
4. Wherefore, my brethren,
ye also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ; that ye should
be married to another, even to him who is raised from the dead, that we
should bring forth fruit unto God.
THE HUSBAND WIFE RELATIONSHIP PER US
AND CHRIST AND THE CHURCH
KJV Ephesians 5:23-32
23. For the husband is
the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he
is the saviour of the body.
24. Therefore as the church
is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every
thing.
25. Husbands, love your
wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;
26. That he might sanctify
and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,
27. That he might present
it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such
thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.
28. So ought men to love
their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself.
29. For no man ever yet
hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord
the church:
30. For we are members
of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.
31. For this cause shall
a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and
they two shall be one flesh.
32. This is a great mystery:
but I speak concerning Christ and the church.
WE MUST BE PREPARED TO AVOID THE TEMPTATIONS
OF LIFE
KJV 1 Peter 5:8
8. Be sober, be vigilant;
because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking
whom he may devour:
BEING PREPARED WITH THE WHOLE ARMOUR
OF GOD
KJV Ephesians 6:11-17
11. Put on the whole armour
of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
12. For we wrestle not
against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against
the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness
in high places.
13. Wherefore take unto
you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil
day, and having done all, to stand.
14. Stand therefore, having
your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
15. And your feet shod
with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
16. Above all, taking the
shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts
of the wicked.
17. And take the helmet
of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
WE WILL ALL APEAR BEFORE CHRIST FOR
JUDGEMENT
KJV 2 Corinthians 5:10
10. For we must all appear
before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things
done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or
bad.
THE EVENTS OF THAT DAY
KJV 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18
13. But I would not have
you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye
sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.
14. For if we believe that
Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will
God bring with him.
15. For this we say unto
you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the
coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.
16. For the Lord himself
shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel,
and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
17. Then we which are alive
and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet
the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
18. Wherefore comfort one
another with these words.
Verses 14-30 – The parable of the talents
We are all given a certain ability
to work in the Kingdom of God and we must use those talents and not hide
them.
WE MUST BE FOUND FAITHFUL
KJV 1 Corinthians 4:2
2. Moreover it is required
in stewards, that a man be found faithful.
WE MUST ALWAYS BE ABOUNDING IN THE WORK
OF THE LORD
KJV 1 Corinthians 15:58
58. Therefore, my beloved
brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the
Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.
WE SHOULD WALK IN GOOD WORKS
KJV Ephesians 2:10
10. For we are his workmanship,
created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained
that we should walk in them.
WE MUST BE NOT LUKEWARM
KJV Revelation 3:15 -16
I know thy works, that thou art neither
cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot.
So then because thou art lukewarm,
and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.
Verse 33
THE RIGHT HAND HAS ALWAYS BEEN REFERRED
TO AS THE “GOOD SPOT”
KJV Genesis 48:17-18
17. And when Joseph saw
that his father laid his right hand upon the head of Ephraim, it displeased
him: and he held up his father's hand, to remove it from Ephraim's head
unto Manasseh's head.
18. And Joseph said unto
his father, Not so, my father: for this is the firstborn; put thy right
hand upon his head.
KJV Psalms 110:1
1. The Lord said unto my
Lord, Sit thou at my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool.
KJV Ephesians 1:19-20
19 And what is the exceeding
greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working
of his mighty power,
20 Which he wrought in Christ,
when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in
the heavenly places,
Verses 31 – 46 the universal judgement
We must have been righteous and giving
to all to inherit life eternal. Having used our talents and been
prepared completely to meet Christ. These passages are a conclusion
to the beginning to parables.
