DOES GOD AUTHORIZE INSTRUMENTS OF MUSIC IN
CHRISTIAN WORSHIP?
Brian Yeager
The resounding answer to this question is NO! To understand
this, let us look into the Bible.
1) The Bible is the inspired word of God (II Timothy 3:16-17).
2) The Bible is the final revelation from God to us (II Peter 1:3
and Galatians 1:8-9).
3) The only instrument authorized to be used in praise to God is
the heart (Ephesians 5:19).
4) While there are instances in the Old Testament referring to the
instrument (Psalms 150), we are dead to the old law (Romans 7:1-6, Colossians
2:13-14, and Hebrews 9:15-17). The challenge is to find a passage
in the New Testament authorizing the use of instruments in the worship
to God. Since there is no passage authorizing instrumental music
in worship, those who do use them violate God’s law! (Revelation 22:18-19)
Tells us not to add to or take from the word of God!
WHAT MUST I DO TO BE SAVED? HEAR (ROM 10:17), BELIEVE
(JOHN 8:24), REPENT (LUKE 13:3), CONFESS (MATTHEW 10:32-33), AND BE BAPTIZED
[IMMERSED] (ROM 6:1-6).
