Brian Yeager One time there was a man walking down the street trying to recover from a previous night, when he was active in a local bar scene. There was a car that pulled up beside him and a door opened. The man turned and looked to see whom it was, and did not recognize the man so he continued to walk. The stranger yelled to the drunk "excuse me sir". The drunk man turned and asked what. The stranger began to ask for directions to Church. The drunk laughed and said there is a big one down around the corner. The man asked what is the name of the Church. The drunk said that he did not know, nor did he care. Then he said I think it’s the Pope’s Church. The stranger laughed. The drunk asked what was so funny. The man said you made a good point about the Catholic Church. Now could you tell me where Christ’Church would be in this town. The drunk said to the man I do not know but I would like to find out, maybe if there was a Christ Church I would be sober, have a job, a wife, and my kids. (Luke 10:30-37) And Jesus answering said, A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, which stripped him of his raiment, and wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead. And by chance there came down a certain priest that way: and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side. And likewise a Levite, when he was at the place, came and looked on him, and passed by on the other side. But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him, And went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him. And on the morrow when he departed, he took out two pence, and gave them to the host, and said unto him, Take care of him; and whatsoever thou spendest more, when I come again, I will repay thee. Which now of these three, thinkest thou, was neighbour unto him that fell among the thieves? And he said, He that shewed mercy on him. Then said Jesus unto him, Go, and do thou likewise. This parable is a lesson. Much like the story above. No matter what a man looks like, or has been through you can always help him. The story that introduced this lesson was one much like this. A man saw another in trouble. He stopped to help. The first story he wanted to know if the man knew Jesus. He asked if he knew the way to Church. The man opened the door by saying he wished he did. I wonder how many in this world suffer daily without knowing that Christ indeed does save and that there is a Church that Christ is the head of. There is a Christ Church. (Colossians 1:18) And he is the head of
the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead;
that in all things he might have the preeminence. The same Church spoken
as the one in (Ephesians 4:4). When was the last time you mentioned to
someone that you knew the way to Christ? When is the last time you mentioned
the directions to Church? When is the last time you remembered the directions
to Christ?
